Day 1: Basics of Business Intelligence

• Discussion of the “Power family” (PowerPivot, PowerBI and PowerQuery) and overview of possible strategies for its use;
• Importing external data into PowerPivot;
• Maintaining the links to the source data;
• Remove columns from PowerPivot tables;
• Add calculated columns to PowerPivot tables;
• Introduction to DAX functions;
• Create a data model by linking the imported tables using 1-to-1 many relationships;
• Make measurements;
• Test data model validity by creating Power pivot tables;
• Expand data model by importing new tables;
• Solving the many-to-many relationship problem;
• Transfer the PowerPivot solution to the PowerBI Desktop;
• Create simple visualizations in the PowerBI Desktop.

Day 2: Advanced techniques and publication

• Adjust source links in the PowerBI Desktop;
• Arrange measurements in a special measurements table;
• Edit the interactions between the visualizations;
• Apply slicers;

• Drill through;
• Create calculated columns in the PowerBI Desktop;
